Medicare Part D is a federal program administered by private insurance companies. Part D is designed to help cover some of the costs of prescription drugs. There are two ways to get Part D plans. MA Plans that include Part D coverage already, or purchase a “stand-alone” or separate drug plan as when choosing a Med Supp plan.

YOU CANNOT DO BOTH. There are 4 parts to Part D: Annual deductible, Initial Coverage Limit, the “GAP” or sometimes referred to as the donut hole, and then Catastrophic coverage.
